Psychosocial and Bereavement care

The Palliative Social Work Team provides counselling, support and practical help to patients, their families and carers who are referred for hospice care. The team has an educative role providing a range of training programmes and a consultation service for Professional and Voluntary Agencies, on issues of loss and bereavement. The Palliative Care Social Work Team are seconded from the Medway Council Social Services Directorate.

The Bereavement Service

The Bereavement Service comprises 16 volunteer bereavement counsellors, trained and supported by the Bereavement Service Manager, the Social Work Manager and a Consultant Clinical Psychologist. The counsellors support families during their bereavement.

Every month the Relatives Club provides an open evening for families to come back to the hospice.
